Overview information
If I do decide to buy unemployment insurance what should I be looking for
How much income do I need to protect?
Find an unemployment insurance plan that offers the maximum choice,
this varies between 50% to 75% of your net monthly income to maximums
around £1,000-£2,000. Our unemployment insurance allows
you to cover up to the upper limit in both cases, i.e. up to 75% of
your net income up to a maximum of £2000.
How long will I need to receive my monthly benefit for any one claim? Your choice of unemployment insurance and how long you need to receive the benefits will be dependent upon your individual circumstances. The length of unemployment insurance monthly benefits vary but the norm is 12 months. We offer 3, 6 or 12 month benefit periods per claim.
How long can I wait before I would need to claim?
Some unemployment insurance plans provide deferred payments where you
will not receive benefits for a number of months. You may consider that
an interval, between when your employer stops paying you and when the
unemployment insurance starts would also be acceptable if you had savings.
Our unemployment insurance has a qualifying period of 30 days after
which insurance payments are made to you backdated to day 1.
